Our story
Whilst studying at London University in 1972, William Saint started working for a small chain of retail shops which specialised in the sale and service of white goods such as dishwashers and washing machines.
Whilst working there William saw first hand the extensive damage that these products could cause by flooding or leaking, this gave him an idea that would later become the very first Floodcheck® product.
William’s first unit was a MANUAL model (can be seen elsewhere on the website), which provided a real solution for protecting properties by preventing flooding from washing machines and dishwashers.
Several years later in 1998, William decided that with the advancements in micro-processor electronics, the time was right to design and build a newer, more sophisticated product, this led to the launch of the AUTO model.
William was so proud of his latest AUTO model that he entered it into the Essex County Council Innovation Competition, the AUTO model was a great success and won the Innovation Award and also helped to raise some welcome funding.
The AUTO model was later granted International Trademarks and Patents and underwent rigorous testing by the UK water standards to meet WRAS requirements, having achieved this accreditation Floodcheck as we now know it was formed.
In 2011 having been through 5 years of extensive development and testing, Floodcheck® launched their innovative Intercepter, the Intercepter was awarded the much coveted NATIONAL HOMEBUILDING and Renovation Award for Innovation and Excellence.
Floodcheck® are continually striving to improve their products and to find new ways to monitor water usage, save water and to help protect properties from flooding.
