Screw this on to the end of your washing machine / dishwasher, to protect against burst hoses.

A washing machine / dishwasher uses a set amount of water for each cycle it does wash, spin, rinse etc. The amount varies for each cycle and appliance. Front loaders are about 5 gallons (25 litres) per cycle (Dishwashers only 2 gallons). The manual Floodcheck© can be set by the user to only allow a max. amount through on one cycle. We set them at the factory for 8 gallons, which gives a degree of tolerance.
You can set yours lower if you know the exact amount. The maximum for the standard manual unit is 11 imp gallons (50 litres), the upgraded model (this unit) is designed for top loaders popular in the USA and can cope with over 20 gallons (100 litres).
In the event of a burst hose or the washing machine developing a fault or leak, the maximum that can flow through the Floodcheck© is 8 gallons (set at factory), so you have a large puddle of water and not a deluge, thus the amount of damage is greatly reduced.
